VENEFIT PROCEDURE
The Vein Guys® use the Venefit™ procedure (formerly called VNUS Closure™), or endovenous radiofrequency ablation, to treat vein disease. We have chosen this procedure because it is clinically proven to be an effective means of treating varicose veins and their underlying cause, venous reflux. It is a minimally invasive procedure with less pain and less bruising compared to traditional vein stripping surgery and laser treatment.
Using the Venefit™ system, physicians close the diseased or damaged vein. This is done by inserting a catheter into a vein and heating the vein wall using temperature-controlled radio-frequency energy. Heating the vein wall causes collagen in the wall to shrink and the vein to close. After the vein is sealed shut, blood naturally reroutes to healthy veins and the body dissolves the closed vein over time.
The procedure is done in the office, takes about 15 minutes, and patients walk away from the procedure and typically return to their normal activities within a day. Venefit™ uses two types of instruments to close the vein, the ClosureFAST™ Catheter and the ClosureRFS™ Stylet. The Vein Guys®’ surgeons will determine which is right for each patient based on the type of vein disease they have.
We adhere to the highest quality and standards in vein care treatment and surgery and, for this reason we do not reprocess catheters or use reprocessed catheters like others do in vein care practices, clinics, and institutes.
Venefit using the ClosureFAST Catheter
The Venefit procedure is the newest procedure for treating superficial veins with venous reflux disease. Venefit uses The ClosureFAST catheter with either a 6.5 cm or 3 cm electrode to generate radiofrequency waves to heat and collapse the vein wall. The catheter is used to close the greater saphenous vein, lesser saphenous vein or the shorter access branches off these veins.
-
Step 1
Catheter tip positioned 2cm distal to the saphenofemoral junction. Tumescent
fluid is administered.
Step 3
Catheter shaft allows fast and accurate
catheter re-positioning between treatment
cycles. No energy is delivered
during the re-positioning. -
Step 2
7cm vein segment treated all at once
during 20-second treatment cycle.
Additional vein segment treated serially.
Step 4
This treatment of 45cm vein
takes three to five minutes
(seven treatment segments).
Venefit using the CLOSURE RFS Stylet
Perforator veins are those that connect the deep venous system with the superficial venous system. When the perforator veins need to be treated, the ClosureRFS™ Stylet is used to close the vein. This is the only intravascular ablation device specifically cleared by the FDA for the treatment of incompetent perforator veins. This minimally invasive outpatient treatment can be either the primary procedure or in addition to saphenous vein ablation with ClosureFAST™ catheter.
